4 HANDY BI-CARB SODA KITCHEN HACKS: A SPRINKLE OF SODA MAGIC

In this new blog we will be sharing some super handy kitchen hacks using bi-carb soda (aka baking soda) that we cannot live without. It’s generally used for baking, but it has so many great uses in the kitchen.

Hack #1: Tenderise beef
The first handy hack is using bi-carb soda to tenderise beef strips or cubes. Place the beef in a bowl, then sprinkle some bi-carb soda and mix to coat evenly. Leave in the fridge for 30 minutes, then rinse with water and then dry with a paper towel before using the beef for cooking. This will make the beef super tender and glossy - perfect for stir fries or beef stroganoff.

Hack #2: Clean the sink
This next hack will get your sink sparkling in just a few minutes. Sprinkle some bi-carb over the kitchen sink, leave for 10 minutes, then squeeze some dishwashing liquid on a damp sponge, then scrub and rinse with warm water.

Hack #3: Deodorise the fridge
Place a small bowl with bi-carb soda in the fridge to absorb fridge odours and keep your fridge smelling fresh. When you notice odours returning, it’s time for a fridge clean and to replace the bi-carb soda.

Hack #4: Clean stains from mugs and crockery
This hack will quickly get rid of those stains in mugs and crockery. Sprinkle some bi-carb soda on a damp cloth. Next rub on the stains, then rinse with warm water. Your mugs and crockery will be squeaky clean in no time at all.
